Description: Choose an existing company/brand/organization you would like to create an advertisement poster for. In this poster, you will be communicating a message to your target audience with the goal of getting them to look, listen, act, participate in, donate to, attend and event, purchase something….
Your client could be anything from a local business or organization, to a large corporation or international non-profit cause. The only requirement is that whomever you choose has an existing LOOK & FEEL for their brand. Reason being, for this first project you are learning how to understand an existing company, who they are, what they are all about, who their target audience is/how to design for that audience, and how to use their LOOK & FEEL in your design. I also want you to learn how to solve a problem visually within specific limitations/restrictions—In this instance, the brand look & feel is your restriction.
You will come up with content—Messaging, a headline and tagline, photographs and/or drawings. What is the communication problem you need to solve?
If possible, visit your chosen place and pick up any material you can find - logos on business cards, ads, flyers, etc., or search their website and any other internet sources.
We will focus on using Photoshop & Illustrator to work with image & type for this project. Specs: You will print on 11 x 17” paper at a print shop, and trim it to a final poster size of 10 x 16”. You will use a .5” bleed (1/2”) if you wish to have a bleed. Mount your trimmed poster on black matte board.
Milestone Dates: Tues. Sept. 11th: Project Kick-Off. In-class review of project. We will start preparing for this project in class. Spend anhour at home doing research and working on your Creative Brief. Bring your working creativebrief plus 2 design samples of your client, to class on Thursday. I want to see that you are researching and thinking about your project.
Thurs. Sept. 14th: Bring working Creative Brief to class—I will go around and check in with you on your creative brief, so be prepared to tell me what you have found out about your client and target audience so far. We will also begin brainstorming and working on thumbnail sketches in class.

If you choose to do your work on a computer, you need to bring any images or fonts TO CLASS with you today on your flash drive.
