4. Thumbnails 101 - Read The Role of Sketching in the Design Process Exercise: Come up with 20 thumbnail sketches for a chair. We are not looking for perfect drawing skills here, only creative thinking and originality! Try to break out of what you would typically think of a chair to look like and have fun with this!
2. Quiz #1: By Monday at 5pm, email me with your email address. In addition write a paragraph on the main points of what you have read. This counts as your first quiz!
3. Find an example of any type of design that emphasizes shape and or line or pattern and bring it to class on Tuesday...We will review together.
4. Purchase required class materials.You will definitely need for next week: - your process book/reflection journal - a notebook for class notes (this can be included in your above process book, but just remember that I'll be collecting your process books for review during the semester so you might want to have your notebook as a separate 1-subject notebook) - your Flash drive

Week 1 - Homework Assignment
1. Reading: "Design Process" handout (Lauer & Pentak) AND re-read your "Elements & Principles" handout.
